The Luminaires Founder Chapter is a fundraising support group of Doheny Eye Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation, improvement and restoration of human eyesight. EIN 95-2916590

1974-2026: A LEGACY OF SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISING AND A BRIGHT FUTURE

Carrie Estelle Doheny and her friend Mary Daily Irvine were the inspiration and light behind the founding of Doheny Eye Institute. Years later, Mary L. Crary, a community leader and humanitarian, carried that legacy forward by founding The Luminaires – continuing a tradition of strong, determined, goal-oriented women.

Since 1974, The Luminaires Founders have proudly supported Doheny Eye Institute, inspiring generosity, raising awareness of eye disease, and helping fuel life-changing vision research.

Doheny Eye Institute continues to stay focused on the future of advancing treatments and cures for eye diseases through research, applying this new knowledge to patient care, and sharing this knowledge through education, training, and community service.

THE LUMINAIRES HISTORY

Mary Crary was President of The Luminaires Founder Chapter and served in this position from 1976 until 1981. The Luminaires have played a key role in raising community awareness of Doheny Eye Institute while supporting the Institute’s rise locally and globally as a leader in vision research.
